Responsible to the hospital management for reporting on a regular basis all infections in the hospital
Review of environmental hygiene, cleanliness, the care of linen and waste on a regular basis and document results for discussion with hospital management.
Notify the Department of Health timeously of diseases where applicable
Ensure an environment safe from infection for all hospital staff
Organise regular infection control committee meetings and document the proceedings
Plan and implement the procedure used to identify and investigate an outbreak of infection (either community or hospital acquired) using accepted infection control standards
Implement, when needed, isolation protocols that are effective and understandable to all hospital personnel.
Maintain an up to date infection control file that is available and accessible to all nursing and house-keeping staff
Maintain written and acceptable protocols for infectious diseases including VHF, SARS, Meningitis
To make available all equipment needed for infectious diseases
Revise all policies, procedures and standards regularly
Ensure the provision of protective clothing for all staff and members of the public when needed
Supply appropriate and reliable disinfectants, sterilants and monitoring equipment and ensure that nursing and other staff understand the use of these items
Ensure that there is a written quality insurance programme for infection control after a base line survey and that evaluation and remedial measure are in place

The Stores Assistant will ensure the maintenance and control of the stores functions by ordering, issuing and reporting on stock. This individual will further be responsible for the receiving and issuing of all items through the use of bulk issue sheets. This individual will adhere to administrative functions and will work in consultation with all hospital stakeholders to maintain good working relationships and fulfil work requests.

Order stock and ensure the processing of capital purchase orders.
Verify and compare prices on the procurement system by using different price lists to identify competitive pricing.
Receive stock when it is delivered and check the goods received with the designated person.
Ensure that the invoice or delivery note is confirmed and signed.
Ensure the packing of stock received onto shelves in a timeous and orderly manner and maintain the cleanliness of the shelves.
Issue stock from the store and record the items issued
Use the hospital procurement system i.e. SAP, Co-Order to order stock from suppliers.
Maintain stock administration levels on the Netcare procurement system.
Manage periodic stock counts Assist with annual and bi annual stock take in line with business requirements.
Liaise with suppliers regarding delivery dates and ensure continuous follow up.
Keep stores secure by ensuring that employees do not to have free access to the stores.
Ensure that the GRV’s system capturing is completed on a daily basis and that the end of day report is completed and submitted to the accounts department.
Ensure that the stores are kept tidy at all times.
