Formal Education

Grade 12 / N3 with Math’s, Science, and English

NQF 4 Occupational Trade Qualification (Section 13 / Section 26D Trade Test)

Min Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ post-trade test experience as a Maintenance Artisan

Strong leadership potential and competency are required and preference will be given to candidates with minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity (maintenance supervisor or foreman or acting in a similar role)

This position requires experience in working on multi stage reciprocating compressors

Maintenance on single stage Centrifugal pumps, Centrifugal and fin fans, Various types of single- and multi-reduction gearbox’s

PURPOSE OF JOB / ROLE INTENT

Management of the engineering maintenance processes witihin the appointed area of responsibility to enable various mining teams to reach production targets within the principles of QCDSM.

This position carries a 2.9.2 legal appointment for the mine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

–  Qualified EM / Learner Engineer, with N3/GR 12 with Maths and science

–  3 years Foreman experience

OR

–  Entry Level for B.Eng/B.Sc Eng with18 months total work experience as candidate Engineer

OR

–  B.Tech (Eng): 24 Months experience at Foreman level

OR

– 3 years Foreman experience

OR

–  Qualified Fitter / Mechanic

–  3 Years Foreman experience

Specific experience required

Coal Mine experience is a pre-requisite

1.  (Safe Production) – Manage and carry out engineering and maintenance strategies / overhaul plans on a day to day basis that ensure that departments

     KPI’s are met – deliver maintenance, if and when to replace / repair equipment

–  Adherance to Overhaul / maintenance program – plan vs. actual

2.  Implements operational projects, ensures engineering compliance, develops and implements engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in

– This position has a 2.9.2 legal appointment and is accountable for managing the operational engineering solutions and governance within the area of appointment at

a mine within a highly regulated industry.

–  Remote locations, Equiment and infrastructure are underground and may be located over a wide area, the availability must be managed to ensure production targets

are met.

–  Complex interfaces with contractors and suppliers also exits.

ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To ensure effective management of own team members and service providers for electrical maintenance activities at Synfuels Water & Ash. As foreman you will be required to drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Secunda Operations

Secunda Operations (SO) operates the world’s largest coal-to-liquids (CTL) facility and produces synthesis gas (syngas) through coal gasification and natural gas reforming, using Sasol’s unique and proprietary Fischer-Tropsch technology to manufacture synthetic fuel components, pipeline gas and chemical feedstock.

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

  • Provide reports on budget, strategy, WMS (Works Management System), reliability and team performance.
  • Provide input to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) for the plant.
  • Provide information and assist with projects with technical or resource support.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Asset management experience will be to your advantage.
  • Execution and compilation of Quality Control Plans
  • Practical experience of project management will be to your advantage
  • Experience in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
  • RFA Fitness – This position requires pre-employment medical examination which includes a physical fitness assessment as part of the normal selection criteria

Qualifications:

  • National Senior Certificate with Maths, Science & English (Must)
  • NQF level 4 Artisan and Trade Test/ Red Seal (Must)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years plant maintenance and operations experience
